Lodge at Torrey Pines® Awarded
2010 AAA Five-Diamond
SAN DIEGO, California (November 2009) -The Lodge at Torrey Pines® has been honored with the 2010 AAA Five Diamond Award, the eighth year in a row that the luxury resort has captured one of the travel industry's most prestigious awards. Opening in April 2002, the La Jolla, California-based resort remains the consecutive Five Diamond-rated hotel in the city of San Diego. The Lodge features authentic California Craftsman-style architecture and furnishings, as well as a remarkable location overlooking the Pacific Ocean and adjacent to the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course and beloved Torrey Pines State Reserve.
"We are honored and ecstatic about receiving our eighth set of Five Diamonds, and we have our staff and management to thank," said Dan Fullen, General Manager of The Lodge at Torrey Pines®. "AAA's award is well known among sophisticated travelers as representing the highest standards in the industry. We have worked hard from the beginning to provide an atmosphere of mutual regard and respect among our staff, and it shows in the caring and personal service they pass along to our customers. The environment they create at The Lodge is more like a private home than a hotel - and we work diligently to maintain that atmosphere."
Since its opening eight years ago, The Lodge at Torrey Pines® has captured the attention of media and sophisticated travelers alike, firmly placing the property on the destination map of top hotels in America. Publications such as Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, Departures, and the New York Times have touted the property as exceptional, while Esquire named its signature restaurant, A. R. Valentien, one of "America's Best New Restaurants." As the site of the annual PGA Invitational, The Lodge also ranks high as a Golfers' destination offering exclusive tee times on the Torrey Pines Golf Course.
With the 2010 AAA Five Diamond, The Lodge remains among the top tier of hotel properties in North America, including The Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel, Bellagio in Las Vegas, Ritz-Carlton New York, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, and the Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The Lodge at Torrey Pines® is a tribute to the California Craftsman Movement and is modeled after Greene & Greene's famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena, California, two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. The Lodge features 170 spacious guest rooms, including 8 suites, more than 13,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, a 9,500 square-foot full-service spa and two restaurants serving contemporary California cuisine.
