LA JOLLA, CA (February 2003) – Every February the PGA Pros head for the sunny coast of Southern California to test their mettle, irons and woods at the Buick Invitational on the famed Torrey Pines South Course. There has been plenty of memorable action in the tournament over the years: Jack Nicklaus swinging through a monsoon to double-bogey the last hole and win in ’69; five single-stroke victories in the ’70s; Tiger Woods’ course and tournament-tying record scores in ’99. And when the last hole is sunk and the pros depart, the ocean-side course re-opens to those who want to play where the pros play.

In addition, the Rees Jones designed course has been selected to play host to the US Open in 2008. The Lodge at Torrey Pines will be the official host site of the tournament.
