About Silver Oak and OVID Napa Valley

Silver Oak was born from a handshake agreement between Ray Twomey Duncan and Justin Meyer, who shared a bold vision: to focus on crafting exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon aged exclusively in American oak. Established in 1972 in a Napa Valley dairy barn, Silver Oak gained widespread acclaim over the following decades. Justin Meyer's retirement in 1994 led to the appointment of Daniel Baron as winemaker, and in 2001, the Duncan family assumed full ownership, with Ray's sons, David and Tim Duncan, continuing the legacy as proprietors to this day.

In 2017, the Duncan family acquired the beloved winery OVID Napa Valley. Perched on a secluded mountaintop at 1,400 ft. elevation on Pritchard Hill, OVID crafts organically farmed wines reflecting the region's terroir under Winemaker Austin Peterson's guidance. Embracing native yeasts and eschewing fining or filtering, OVID's commitment to purity is unwavering.
